Barack Obama Says He Was Determined To Always Put His Daughters First Due To Him Having An Absentee

As you might know, the former POTUS dedicated his memoir titled ‘A Promise Land’ to his and Michelle’s two daughters, Sasha and Malia, and he is now opening up about the reason why! Here’s what Barack Obama had to say in a new post on his go-to platform!

The former POTUS took to his IG account to share a throwback family pic in which the two girls were still only toddlers.

Alongside it, he wrote: ‘The fact that my own father was largely absent from my childhood helped shape my own ideas about the kind of father I intended to be. When Malia was born, I promised to myself my kids would know me, that they would grow up feeling my love consistently, knowing that I would always put them first.’

Barack went on to stress that, in spite of his stressful and busy life in the Oval Office, he always made time to eat dinner with his wife, Michelle Obama and their daughters.

He goes on to share in his caption that ‘While serving as President, I made sure to have dinner with Michelle, Sasha, and Malia every evening by 6:30. We’d eat some good meals and catch up on our days … That was one of the best parts of living above the store, as I sometimes called it. Seeing them grow up into the intelligent, strong, and compassionate young women they’ve become has been the greatest joy of my life … I’m reminded constantly that there’s no place in the world I’d rather be than with Miche and our girls—and it’s why I’ve dedicated my memoir to them.’

It’s safe to say that Barack Obama is one of the most wholesome out of all the American Presidents and family has always been his priority.

But even in his case, being the Commander in Chief, affected his marriage to a certain extent.

The politician opened up about this in his memoir, writing that everyone would treat her as ‘secondary’ to him and ‘I continued to sense an undercurrent of tension in her, subtle but constant, like the faint thrum of a hidden machine.’
